Abstract
Investigation on geological position and mineralogical-petrography composition, of alabaster deposits at the Galichina is given in this article. Due to historical data the authors have shown sources of alabaster mining as well as main tendencies of the alabaster utilization during different times. Particularly, the oldest applying of alabaster is known since erecting of the Uspenskiy cathedral church in the King’s village Krylos. It was also popular during the Renascence and caesar epochs, time of Ar-Deko development and modern time to do sculptures and to establish religion buildings. Alabaster deposits are connected to the Tyraska Formation and they are exogenic in origin because its formation in saturated environment. These factors are responsible for stratigraphic and lithological controls of the deposits appearance. High alabaster hardness can be explained by presence of fine-grained aggregates due to isometric gypsum grains. Obtained results are important for renewable of alabaster industry in Ukraine. It is possible with big in scale deposits and high level masters.
Keywords: alabaster, gypsum, Galychyna, Tyraska Formation, evaporates, deposits.
