Precious and Decorative Stones’s Journal was founded in 1995.
Founder and publisher: State Gemological Center of Ukraine (Certificate of Publishing Entity: Series PD No. 1010 dated August 9, 2002).
Precious and Decorative Stones’s journal , according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On Publishing Directories of Wholesale Prices for Diamonds, Precious, Semi-Precious, and Decorative Stones" dated May 31, 1995, No. 369, wholesale prices for diamonds, precious, semi-precious, and decorative stones were published. Additionally, scientific articles were published focusing on research in the field of gemology and expertise of natural precious, semi-precious, and decorative stones in raw materials and products, as well as evaluation of their qualitative and value characteristics.
The editor-in-chief from 1995 to 2008 was Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor Indutnyi Volodymyr Vasyliovych.
Since 2008, the chief editor of the journal has been Oleg Leontiyovych Heleta, Candidate of Geological Sciences and Corresponding Member of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine. He is also the Deputy Director and Head of the Department of Expertise of Semi-Precious and Decorative Stones at the State Gemological Center of Ukraine (SGCU).
In 2009, a separate edition was registered and published. It is titled as "Price Guide for Precious and Decorative Stones" (ISSN 2079-1186). This bulletin exclusively publishes prices of natural precious, semi-precious, and decorative stones (as well as products made from them) for the domestic market.
Since then, the journal "Precious and Decorative Stones" has been publishing scientific and non-fiction articles, scientific reports and reviews, scientific reference information, etc. in the field of gemology and expert evaluation of precious, semi-precious and decorative stones, mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, geology of mineral deposits , economic geology.
