| Abstract In gemology, nephrite and jadeite are often combined by the same term “jade”, but the chemical composition, hardness, density, quality characteristics and price parameters differ, which is important when conducting their identification and expert assessment. This article reflects the basic gemological characteristics of nephrite and jadeite, their varietal varieties, gives comparative characteristics and diagnostic methods for these minerals. |
