Abstract The objects of private geological collections (especially gemstones), significance of amateur activity in protecting the geological rarities, replenishment of scientific museum founds, propaganda of geology and gemology were examined. The big scientific and aesthetic significance of private geological exhibitions was studied. The necessity of supporting geological amateur activity was grounded. The gemology orientation of private geological collections is their essential peculiarity. |
